SDG&E is proud to announce the start of its 7th Annual Wildfire Safety Fairs, aimed at fostering community engagement, preparedness and safety amidst the ever-present threat of wildfires in the San Diego region. This year, SDG&E is hosting a total of four fairs, each designed to provide families with essential resources, education and family-friendly fun.

The Wildfire Safety Fairs have become a staple event for SDG&E, marking the company's proactive commitment to addressing wildfire safety and preparedness in the community. These fairs serve as an opportunity for families to come together, learn about wildfire prevention and response strategies and interact with local experts and resources.
“We have seen the devastation wildfire can bring to our region, which is why empowering our communities with more knowledge and resources is so important,” said Caroline Winn, CEO of SDGE. “Our 17-year record without a major utility-related wildfire stems from our robust wildfire mitigation program, community partnerships and an informed public. As seasons intensify, these fairs are critical frontline preparation because when residents know how to harden homes, create defensible space and develop emergency evacuations, everyone becomes safer.”
The fairs will offer a wide range of family-friendly activities and resources, ensuring an informative and enjoyable experience for attendees of all ages. Highlights of this year's fairs include:
- Interactive Exhibits: Explore interactive exhibits featuring the latest technologies and strategies for wildfire prevention and emergency preparedness.
- Giveaways: Attendees will have the chance to win exciting giveaways that can enhance their personal emergency preparedness kits.
- Food and Beverages: Enjoy complimentary refreshments while engaging with wildfire safety experts and fellow community members.
- Fire Safety Goats: Get up close and personal with our furry friends as our brush-clearing goats make a special appearance at the fairs. Learn about their vital role in reducing the risk of wildfires by clearing vegetation fuel while enjoying the opportunity to feed, pet and interact with these remarkable animals.
In addition to these attractions, the fairs will offer valuable resources and information on emergency preparedness, evacuation plans and wildfire mitigation strategies. Local emergency responders, fire departments and community organizations will be on hand to answer questions and provide guidance on staying safe during an emergency. Below is a list of just some of our partners throughout the community.
- CAL FIRE / San Diego County Fire
- American Red Cross
- 2-1-1 San Diego
