SDG&E volunteer Martha Martinez brought her daughter along for the cleanup, turning it into a shared experience. Together, they’re helping care for an outdoor setting they enjoy spending time in.
Lake Hodges is a special place for many in our region — a scenic lake and reservoir with miles of hiking and biking trails, fishing spots and a nationally recognized birding area home to more than 200 species, including the iconic dancing grebes.
That’s why volunteers came together this Earth Day to help keep it clean and protected.
That’s why volunteers came together to help keep it clean and protected. As part of the Friends of Lake Hodges Earth Day Cleanup, volunteers spent the morning pitching in to care for this outdoor space and help support the local ecosystem.
And it didn’t stop at Lake Hodges — volunteers also came together for a first-time cleanup in Spring Valley. As part of I Love a Clean San Diego’s Creek to Bay — the largest cleanup in the county during Earth Week — employee volunteers removed helped remove 165 pounds of litter from Spring Valley County Park. That effort was part of a much larger impact, with more than 3,000 volunteers across 89 sites removing nearly 60,000 pounds of debris countywide.
