Expanded weekday midday hours make it easier to use lower-priced electricity for everyday activities
Beginning May 1, San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) customers will have more opportunities to lower their electric bills with expanded super off-peak pricing available on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., year-round. Previously limited to March and April, these lower-priced hours are now available throughout the year, giving customers more flexibility to shift energy use to times when electricity costs less.
The year-round daytime hours reflect when electricity is more available on the grid. With more clean energy available during daytime hours, electricity costs are lower — creating new opportunities for customers to better manage their monthly bills by shifting energy use when it works for them.
“This change gives customers more control,” said SDG&E Chief Customer Officer Dana Golan. “Expanding super off-peak hours year-round gives people more options to save in ways that work for their households.”
Super off-peak pricing is available on SDG&E residential and commercial Time of Use pricing plans that include super off-peak hours. These periods offer the lowest electricity prices of the day and are designed to encourage customers to shift energy use when possible.
Overnight super off-peak hours remain available on weekdays from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m., and on weekends and holidays from 12 a.m. to 2 p.m., allowing customers to choose the timing that works best for their household or business.
Customers who are not currently on a pricing plan with super off-peak hours can explore their options by visiting My Energy Center, where they can review their current plan, compare available pricing plans, and see personalized recommendations based on their actual energy use.
