SDG&E Hosts Free Alpine Safety Fair to Strengthen Community Preparedness

Wildfire risk is a year-round reality in our region, and preparation remains one of the most powerful tools families have to stay safe. As communities enter the summer months, San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), a subsidiary of Sempra (NYSE: SRE), is bringing safety experts, hands-on demonstrations and trusted local partners directly into the community this weekend in Alpine.

“The best time to prepare for an emergency is before one occurs,” said Brian D’Agostino, vice president of wildfire and climate science at SDG&E. “These events let us meet customers where they are, share what we've learned and make sure every household has the tools and resources to stay safe when it matters most.”

The free, family-friendly event will take place on Saturday, June 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Joan MacQueen Middle School in Alpine. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with safety experts, explore interactive demonstrations and access resources designed to support emergency readiness.

Held during National Safety Month, the fair is part of SDG&E's long-standing commitment to wildfire preparedness and a broader series of community-based events designed to build awareness and strengthen resilience across the region.

What to expect

Attendees will have access to a wide range of resources and experiences, including:

  • Information on how to build an emergency supply kit, create an emergency plan and reduce wildfire risk around their homes and neighborhoods
  • Interactive exhibits and demonstrations showcasing wildfire prevention strategies and technologies
  • Opportunities to connect with SDG&E teams, local public-safety agencies and community partners
  • Safety tips, evacuation-planning guidance and wildfire mitigation resources
  • Family-friendly activities, giveaways and hands-on learning opportunities

Together, these experiences are designed to make preparedness accessible, actionable and relevant for customers at every stage of their readiness journey.
