The annual San Diego Pride Parade is the largest single-day civic event in the region and among the largest Prides in the United States, attracting over 250,000 cheering supporters of the LGBTQ community. This year marked the 50th anniversary of the Pride Parade in San Diego. On Saturday, July 20, SDG&E and Sempra employees, including SDG&E CEO Caroline Winn, proudly showed up in Hillcrest to affirm their support.
SDG&E and Sempra celebrated our LGBTQIA+ community at this year’s San Diego Pride Parade where more than 60 employees and their loved ones marched the 1.5-mile parade route along University Avenue, closely followed by a vibrantly decorated all-electric SDG&E bucket truck.
At SDG&E, we embrace and value diversity by celebrating differing perspectives and backgrounds. The company is committed to creating an inclusive and affirming workplace where employees feel accepted.
Joining Caroline Winn in the celebration of this year’s theme, 'Making History Now!’ were members of Team SDG&E, Sempra, True Colors, BEBRG, SDG&E Chief Operating Officer and Chief Safety Officer, Kevin Geraghty and SDG&E's Vice President, Land and Environmental Services and Chief Sustainability Officer, Estela de Llanos.
As long-time partners of San Diego Pride’s programs, SDG&E is thrilled to continue partnering with organizations that provide services, safe spaces, and resources for local LGBTQIA+ communities. SDG&E has a long history of supporting causes that uplift the LGBTQIA+ community, including the North County LGBTQ Resource Center’s Project Youth, which provides direct service, educational, and advocacy strategies to support safety and resilience for LGBTQIA+ youth. The company is also a supporter of The San Diego LGBT Community Center’s Hillcrest and South Bay Youth Centers. These centers provide safe and welcoming spaces for LGBTQIA+ youth ages 10-24, many of whom are low-income and facing housing insecurities.
Caroline Winn shared her thoughts on the event: “Participating in the San Diego Pride Parade is a powerful reminder of our commitment to diversity and inclusion. At SDG&E, we strive to create a workplace where every individual feels valued and supported. Celebrating Pride with our community is a testament to our ongoing efforts to uplift and empower our LGBTQIA+ colleagues and neighbors.”
At SDG&E, we continue to embrace and value diversity, celebrating differing perspectives and backgrounds. We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and affirming workplace where employees feel accepted and empowered. Supporting our LGBTQIA+ communities is at the heart of our values, and we are proud to be a part of such a vibrant and supportive community.
