Welcome to “In the Community” — your window into how local hands-on projects and collaborative partnerships are making a real impact in the place we all call home.

From planting trees and preparing families for emergencies, to supporting students and helping neighbors thrive, these stories show how SDG&E is helping build a stronger, safer and more resilient region for everyone.

For many older adults in San Diego, a warm meal and a friendly face can make all the difference. That’s why we’re teaming up with Serving Seniors, a local organization that delivers over a million meals and coordinates care for about 11,000 seniors each year. From leading lively rounds of Chinese Bingo to serving lunch and creating cards of encouragement for homebound seniors, employee volunteer efforts are all about brightening days and helping people feel connected.

A greener future starts with small acts of care, like planting a single tree. That’s why SDG&E volunteers teamed up with Tree San Diego and the City of National City to plant shade trees in neighborhoods that need them most. Each tree helps expand the urban canopy, bringing cleaner air and lasting benefits to families and the environment. This October’s planting kicked off Tree San Diego’s first-ever Plant-A-Thon, with a goal to plant and distribute more than 1,000 trees in just 10 weeks.

Alzheimer’s disease touches every corner of our community. And SDG&E recognizes the profound challenges families face. That’s why SDG&E’s Supply Management team and their families joined hundreds of others at Balboa Park for Walk4ALZ San Diego, coming together to raise nearly $20,000 for local care and support. Every dollar stays in San Diego, helping ensure families on the Alzheimer’s journey have access to the resources and comfort they need. It’s a reminder that when we unite for a cause, we can make a meaningful difference for those who need it most.
